Looking for some inspiration for designing a flag - I tried using Chat GPT to see if it could come up with some interesting design for Kristyna's flag...
But I was not very impressed with its output...
I tried a different prompt and it got worse...
So, I switched to Leonardo AI, which usually has better image generation capabilities - but what it came out with was arguably worse...
At which point, I realised I was going to have to rely on my graphic design skills and I abandoned the AI in favour of my favourite design software - Canva.
Initial Ideas
I explored Canva's archive of heart graphics and pulled out the ones where I could alter the colours. I then mocked up seven designs with different colour combinations which I sent over to Kristyna for feedback.
First Review
Kristyna's initial feedback was that she preferred the blue background, but would also like to see designs with a red background. She didn't like the green because it clashed and she preferred the heart outlines to the filled in shapes. So I made, eight more designs for her to review...
Of these eight designs, her preference was thie three hearts with the red background.
Second Review
Kristyna decided on her favourite heart out-line shape from the four options and asked me to see if I could find a shade of green which worked on the red background. She said she was worried the three symmetrical hearts looked too much like a brand and could I try some different options - so I came up with the following six, of which she liked three: the first, third and fourth.
Final feedback
I feel like I've done as much on Canva as is helpful, obviously the fabric version will not look exactly as the graphic design - but Kristyna's feedback on these designs has given me something to base the design on. Kristyna's last suggestion was to use scraps of fabric to make the flag - so that it represents putting together broken / discarded pieces to make something whole again.
