I usually hand-make Christmas cards for a select few people and then create some digital 'Merry Christmas' messages for mass-disemination to my social media followers...
The Hand-made cards
I made four cards with starlit night-time mountain scenes - inspired by my recent trip to Bavaria.
I painted four sheets of white paper with gestural marks and splatters in watercolours; grey, green, purple and blue. I was trying to create a layering effect that would represent how the mountains appear in different colours the further away they are in the distance.
The paper was quite thick which created an interesting, uneven white border when it was torn - I decided to utilise this effect to give the impression of frost / snow-capped mountains and trees.
I layered the torn paper on black card and drew the stars/text in metallic pen - I could have probably made these elements with more elegance but I was travelling with very limited materials to hand. Also it's just Christmas cards - they'll probably end up in the recycling bin!
I wanted to learn how to fold an origami star (just for fun) and created another card with it - I was less happy with how this one turned out but I might try making the stars again in the future.
Digital Festive Greetings
I made this silly "Meowy Cat Mouse" design in watercolours before I acquired Guinevere, so only Boudicca is featured. I think the mouse painting turned out well, but the cat doesn't look so good - so I turned the mouse into a cute "Night Before christmas" animation....
I then created some photo images with the silly cat message instead.
Sticking with the "Meowy Cat Mouse" message - I added some Canva graphic elements to these photos of the cats.
I took a few more photos of the cats playing with Christmas decorations, I love this one of Gwinnie trying to catch the shadow created by the Christmas ornament.
But I decided for the post I preferred this one with her biting the ornament.
I also love this photo of Boudicca with her matching orange tiger Christmas toy.
