I was really delighted that my artwork, 'Trepidation', was chosen as one of three winners of 'The Vibrant Mind' award - which they announced on GAMIAN Europe's social media today.
I received the following email from the organiser of the Vibrant Mind touring exhibition which I participated in this year:
"After careful review, we are delighted to announce the three grand winners from our group of 30 outstanding finalists. This decision was made through a transparent voting process, with equal weighting given to a public vote (50%) and the input of a panel of three art experts (50%). We wanted to ensure that both public opinion and expert perspectives were central in selecting these final winners.
Our three grand winners are:
Lora-Elly Vannieuwenhuysen, Masking
Madeleina Kay, Trepidation
Suvi Miettinen, Island of sorrow"
I'm really grateful that my artwork and mental health advocacy has been recognised by this organisation's award. I do feel slightly bad because I think that competition could have a negative impact on individuals in this particular advocacy space, but I don't want to seem ungrateful for the award. I don't know details of the prize yet other than that it is an "Art Retreat" which sounds really lovely and I'm looking forward to it!
