I'm really excited that my textiles square has been included in the UAL Post-Grad Community Family Heirloom Patchwork Quilt which is being displayed across the UAL colleges in the Autumn.
The Post-Grad community published an article about the artwork on the UAL website, as well as the 'exhibition catalogue' which includes more information about the individual pieces.
I was also so happy they put mine and Dee's squares next to each other ...
I have no idea why they left my info tag hanging on my square though!
This square was part of my exploration of mental health and healing trauma through stitching which I was developing in the second term, for the Dare to Care exhibition in Bologna.
I gave the piece the title 'Escapes & Ladders' - inspired by the board game - but also to represent the healing process of 'escaping' harmful situations and 'climbing ladders' ie. working to elevate yourself from being trapped by the mental health impacts of trauma.
I gave this description for the catalogue: 'The piece is an exploration of cognitive processing in response to the chaos of life; traumatic experiences and opportunities for self-development and growth'.
